June 21 came and went without me noticing it was summer solstice. In the northern hemisphere, this is the longest day of the year and heralds the arrival of summer. What reminded me that the solstice had come and gone was the thermometer pictured here. Although in the shade, it read over 115F (I think the actual high today was 117F). Summer in Iraq. Solstice
June 21 came and went without me noticing it was summer solstice. In the northern hemisphere, this is the longest day of the year and heralds the arrival of summer.
